When we last checked in, Izumi was being harassed by incessant texts from a stalker, and in a fit of desperation, Rei begged Ryouma to take him in. Ryouma is horrified to learn why Rei has come to him with this problem, but equally perplexed as to why he is being asked to take Izumi in (though of course, he’s more than happy to do so).
Rei explains that he lives too close to the Sena offices for Izumi to be safe there, and Shougo is out of the country on tour. They could put Izumi up in a hotel, but hotels are frequented by lots of different people and could easily be just as dangerous as leaving Izumi at home–so here they are, coming to Ryouma for aid.
Rei knows that Izumi will be a burden on Ryouma, as he’s utterly incapable when it comes to household chores and taking care of himself (to this, Izumi protests that he can brush his teeth by himself, and isn’t that enough?), but Ryouma is the only one they can turn to, and naturally he’ll be well compensated for his time.
Ryouma draws himself up, vowing boldly:
Ryouma: Seeing as that’s the case, there’s no helping it! I’ll happily take him in.
Ryouma: We must depend upon one another in trying times such as these!
Rei: Thank you so much!!
Rei then takes his leave, and after a moment to let it all sink in, the happy couple embrace–now they have all the time in the world to spend together! Ryouma sneaks in for a quick smooch, and then, in traditional Japanese wifely fashion, welcomes Izumi home:
Ryouma: Welcome home, Izumi. Would you like dinner first? Or a bath? Or…me?
Izumi beams before launching himself into Ryouma’s arms.
Izumi: I’M HOME! AND I WANT ALL OF THEM!
Ryouma: You got it!
So first it’s a sumptuous dinner,
then a long, relaxing bath…
Ryouma is up as soon as his alarm goes off the next morning, making his beloved a delicious breakfast. The sight of Izumi, bleary-eyed and weak-kneed so early in the morning and wearing his shirt, does dangerous things to Ryouma’s system, but he manages to peel himself away, giving Izumi a spare key and explaining that he’ll drop by Saotome-sensei’s studio that afternoon to help with assistant work. He turns to leave, but Izumi isn’t about to let him go without the customary goodbye kiss:
Ryouma: Okay, I’m off!
Izumi: Ah, Ryouma!
Married life is VERY MUCH agreeing with Ichijou Ryouma, it seems! He almost doesn’t want the stalker to be found, if it means happy days like this can continue unabated! He’s doing amazing on set, and the day flies by as he heads off to the manga studio to help out Izumi and Saotome-sensei.
His arrival is met with relief from all present–they need him to draw the Diet Building, they’re starving, and there are tones waiting to be applied to pages. Izumi, though, is of course the happiest to see him, and being able to work right beside his new ‘roommate’ makes the day even better. He’s walking on sunshine–until his phone buzzes with a call from his manager. He answers it in a huff, as he’s in quite a rush with his assistant work, but it’s terrible news:
Manager: /The company president found out about you working as a mangaka’s assistant!/
Ryouma: Eh?! Seriously?!
Manager: /Yes! You’re to report to his office IMMEDIATELY!/
Ryouma: Eeh??! Right away?! Seriously?!?
There’s no helping it, so Ryouma quickly takes his leave. The rest of the staff beg him not to go–there’s still lots of background they desperately need him to fill in–but he must, boss’ orders. Izumi follows him into the entryway, away from the drawing room, to ask if everything’s all right and give him a farewell/good luck kiss.
He reminds Ryouma not to get into too much trouble and force the issue–after all, this isn’t his dream, though Ryouma insists that he wants to spend as much time with Izumi as possible. They part ways, promising to meet up again at home, and Izumi turns to head back to work, when–
Izumi: [He…HE SAW US…!!]
To be continued…
